What is a Monitoring Point?

A Monitoring Point is the data generating and collecting component of AppNeta that is deployed wherever you need to monitor from. AppNeta’s Monitoring Points are offered as one of three classes:

Enterprise Monitoring Points - Core to the AppNeta solution, these are the most common type of Monitoring Points, providing complete coverage for enterprise environments.. They are offered as physical hardware, virtual machines, Docker containers, and native installations.

Global Monitoring Points - Operated and fully managed by AppNeta these are designed to monitor end-user and web-based performance focused on Application Experience from the public Internet to a given target location. This outside-in view of your network or applications that drive your business is crucial in an era where Internet- and cloud-first architectures means you have less control over the network domains between users and services.

Global Monitoring Targets - Similar to Global Monitoring Points, these are operated and fully managed by AppNeta. They are designed to operate as Network Delivery monitoring targets for customer's Enterprise Monitoring Points to act as the responder for dual-ended performance analysis of WAN connections. They can also provide visibility into and out of various public cloud providers.

Enterprise Monitoring Point Options

Virtual Monitoring Points

Already have virtualized or container infrastructure? Simply provision a new instance to run AppNeta's virtual instrumentation or deploy AppNeta in a container environment. Virtual and container-based Monitoring Points allow for faster automated rollouts and simpler updates. Clone virtual appliances or deploy multiple containers for High Availability to scale to deployments of any size.

Physical Monitoring Points

Purpose-built physical Monitoring Points are fast, reliable and easy to deploy, making them an ideal choice for deployments where virtualization infrastructure is not readily available. We build our hardware to run all forms of application and network performance monitoring, easily scaling to hundreds of internal and externally-hosted applications. All Monitoring Points are managed by AppNeta, so there's no overhead for IT teams for maintenance or updates. All hardware is fully warrantied for the life of your subscription. Solutions scale from 100 Gbps data centers to small remote offices or home office environments that may not have managed network devices and require a desktop appliance. Fail-to-wire resiliency enables comprehensive monitoring without being a single point of failure.
